Gloria Ann Hart, age 96 of Manhattan, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Homestead Assisted Living in Manhattan.
She was born on June 11, 1928, in McPherson, the daughter of Harry and Esther (Hawkinson) Pattengill.
She married Verne Wagoner Hart on December 10, 1947, in Salina. They were married nearly 70 years. He preceded her in death in 2017.
Gloria was a member of P.E.O., Kaw Valley Chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club, National Campers and Hikers Association and a life member of the Riley County Historical Association.
During her early working years, Gloria taught in a one-room schoolhouse. Later she worked as a church secretary.
In June of 2024, Gloria was honored for being a P.E.O. member for 50 years and received the Golden Girl award. She was very proud of this honor. Gloria hosted a weekly bible study for many years. She also spent many hours writing letters and thank you notes to family and friends.
She is survived by three children, Cindy (Bill) Barnes of Manhattan, Gayle (Don) Connet of Manhattan, and Steve Hart of Manhattan; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Olsen, Aaron (Mary) Connet, Josh (Josie) Connet, Chelsey (Jordan) Frihart, and Trey (Ariana) Connet, and six great grandchildren, Luke, Brock and Zack Olsen, Ava Hale, Adelynn and Claire Frihart.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Wallace, Maurice and Merle Pattengill.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2025, at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Stephen Haverlah officiating. Burial will be in the Sunrise Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church and may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
