Obituary- Irma Burger

Irma Burger, 96 died February 26, 2025, in Clay Center, KS.  She was born on February 6, 1929, in Green, KS, the daughter of William and Mary (Walker) Lang.  Irma was raised in the Green community and was a graduate of the Green High School.  She married Alfred W. Burger on April 23, 1950, in Clay Center Kansas at the St Paul Lutheran church parsonage as the church was under construction.  Irma has remained a member of the congregation for 75 years. Alfred preceded her in death on October 2, 2000.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Marjorie Anthony, Helen Brunker and Shirley Merritt, and brothers, Rex and Paul Lang.

Irma was a proud farm wife and worked with her husband on the farm. She also worked at Tasty Pastry Bakery, Browne’s Clothing, Clay County Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide and at Presbyterian Manor in the dietary department.

Daughter: Karla and husband Carlton Smith of Fargo, ND

3 Grandchildren, Darryn Deck (Stephanie), Matthew Burger, Emily Haen

7 Great Granddaughters, Maci Burger, Ella Deck, Madden Deck, Kate Deck, Evelyn Haen, Claire Haen, Amelia Haen

Graveside Services: 10:30 AM Monday, March 3, 2025, at Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, KS

Minister: Rev. Paul Tessaro

Visitation: 3-5 PM Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
