Obituary-James Albert Koonce

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, James Albert Koonce, on September 10, 2024. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and cherished friend to many.

Our father served in the United States Army and retired from McFarland Energy in Hollywood, California. After retiring he served his community in Los Angeles, California as a counselor for battered and abused boys. He, along with our mother moved to Clay Center, Kansas in July of 2003.

He will be remembered for his kind heart, his selflessness, the many stories, off the wall crazy jokes, unwavering strength, but above all his love for the Lord Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife Martha Lou Koonce, his brother Charlie Koonce, his children Linda Edwards, Jim Koonce, James Howard Koonce, Timothy Koonce, Grace True, Marlaina Koonce-Harb, and Franklin Murrin. He enjoyed 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

The family will be celebrating James life with a private celebration of life
