Obituary- James Flower II

It’s heartbreaking to announce the passing of James “Jimmy” Flower, II on September 27, 2024 at the age of 68.

Jimmy was born on September 18, 1956, on Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, the son of James George and Gertrude Ann (Stalder) Flower. He lived an amazing life of happiness, hard work, and was a helper to many.

He was a pillar in his community. He was loud, loving, and happy. You never had to guess what he was thinking because he was quick to tell you what was on his mind, which was one of his best qualities. Jim was an amazing husband and father, and he had an impact on everyone he met. He worked for the city of Blue Rapids for 20 years, served as a volunteer firefighter for 24 years, as well as serving his community as plumber, HVAC worker, and many other odds and ends. He will be deeply missed by his family and the community he so passionately served.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Flower of Blue Rapids; six daughters, Carrie Vanduska of Greenleaf, Janelle (Donnie) Downs of Ogden, Casy (John) Hearn of Waterville, Kimberly Cummings of Salina, Reva Cummings of Manhattan and Jessica Flower of Ludington, Michigan; two sons, Aaron Flower of El Dorado and Jonathan Cummings of Valley Center; his siblings, Dorothy Cole of California, Kathy (Steve) Scritchfield of Topeka, Billy (Joni) Flower of Blue Rapids, Christina (Steve) Rosebaugh of Greenleaf and Carol (James) Rosebaugh of Greenleaf; Jim and Melinda share 25 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Blue Rapids Gymnasium with Pastor Joel Barber officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be left in the care of the Christie-Anderes Funeral Home at P.O. Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
