Obituary-James “Jim” C. Workman

James “Jim” C. Workman, age 83, of Concordia, KS, left this earthly life on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home in Concordia, KS.  He was born on September 23, 1939 in Centralia, Washington, to Pete and Lizz (Girard) Workman.

Jim attended Centralia, Washington schools while growing up.  He married Barbara Ann Chartier on June 25, 1960 in Fairbury, NE.  She preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2022.

He served in the United States Air Force for four years from 1956-1960 and was honorably discharged.  Jim was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Amarillo, TX and Salina, KS where he met his love of life Barbara in Concordia.

He owned and operated Workman Transport, Inc., for many years until he retired in 2004.

He was a member of the Concordia Moose Lodge #1428.

Jim and Barbara loved to travel the country and he was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.  Most of all he loved spending time with his beloved family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Walker (Ronnie), Concordia, KS & Crystal Perrin, (Lance Salazar), Concordia, KS; grandchildren, Stephanie Ryals (Jerrod), Christopher Walker (Jessica), Colton Halfhide, Ciara Halfhide, Riley Halfhide (Josie) & Ariana Perrin; great grandchildren, Paxton, Gavyn, Landon & Brooklyn Ryals, Serenity and Peacelyn Walker, Khalani Jo; sister, Pat Pollard, Kirkland, WA; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Betty Menor, Poyne, AR; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by a son, James P. “Jimmy” Workman, his parents; Pete and Lizz, two sisters, Dreena and Barbara, brother-in-law, Rocky Pollard, sister-in-law, Pat Miller.

It was Jim’s wishes to be cremated and Memorial services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas, with Pastor Bob Burns officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the local American Legion Post #76, VFW Post #588, Concordia, KS and McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard, Wichita, KS

Burial of the cremains will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.  Friends may sign the register book from 1-5 pm, Monday, October 3, 2022 at the funeral home and friends are welcome to stop by the house and visit with the family.  Following the graveside a luncheon will be served at the American Legion, Concordia.
