Obituary-Jeanne Stitt

Jeanne Stitt, 91 of Clay Center, died on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Presbyterian Manor of Clay Center.  She was born on April 28, 1933 in Clay Center, Kansas, the daughter of Percy and Lola Mae (Clinger) Moon.  

Jeanne grew up in Clay Center and graduated from Clay Center High School in 1951.  She married Roger Stitt on April 19, 1951 and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2017.  Jeanne was a homemaker and also worked as a site manager at the Leisure Center and at the Mini Bus office.  She also volunteered many hours at the Area Agency on Aging as a tax preparer for many years. 

Jeanne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clay Center, the Clay Center American Legion Auxiliary and was a charter member of the Pilot Club.  She is also preceded in death by her parents, son, Terry; 5 sisters, Lucille, Eleanor, Verna, Rachel and Lois and brother, James.

Jeanne is survived by her sons, Kenneth and wife, Judy Stitt of Clay Center, Kansas and Richard and wife, Elizabeth Stitt of Manhattan, Kansas; 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and sister, Lolleta Wildharber of Kennesaw, Georgia.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, November 22, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Clay Center, Kansas. 

Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas.

Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Clay Center American Legion Auxiliary or to Morning Star, Inc. and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
