Jimmy L. Smith, age 66, entered into rest on Monday, August 28, 2023 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas. He was born in Clay Center, Kansas on March 19, 1957 to Ray and Elizabeth Smith.
Jimmy attended Clay Center High School. He went on to receive a degree in welding at the NCKAVTS Beloit Campus, Beloit, Kansas.
He married Lou Ann Lyle on June 16, 1979. To this union four children were born, Joseph, Jason, Tracy and Sylvia. He later divorced.
In January of 1997 he married Marsha Appleby in Simpson, Kansas. To this union a daughter was born Adreanna.
Jimmy was a welder by trade and worked for various manufacturers throughout the local communities including, AIG Hutchinson-Mayrath in Clay Center, KS; Lincoln Towers, Lincoln, KS; also was a Laborer for the City of Concordia, he worked at Bourbon Trucking, Jewell, KS; Also for Curtis Ernst in his Sileage Cutting business as a truck driver.
Jimmy enjoyed fishing, playing cards, working on cars, and watching professional wrestling. Most of all Jimmy loved spending time with his beloved family and friends.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Marsha of the home in Glasco, his mother, Elizabeth Carlson, Clay Center, KS; three sons, Jospeh Smith (Cindy), Glen Elder, KS; Jason Smith, Salina, KS; Tracy Smith, Glen Elder, KS; two daughters, Sylvia Smith, Glasco, KS; Adreanna Smith, Salina, KS; a sister, Amy Young (Mark) Clay Center, KS; brother, Bo Reed, Henderson, NV; 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded by his father, Ray, and a granddaughter, Addie.
Jimmy’s wishes were to be cremated and Celebration of Life with the family will be held at a later date.
