Obituary-Kenneth “Kenny” Skeels

Kenneth “Kenny” D. Skeels, age 84, longtime Concordia resident, entered into rest on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the North Central Kansas Medical Center, Concordia, Kansas.  He was born in Concordia, Kansas on July 20, 1938 to Kenneth and Lydia (Mooberry) Skeels.

Kenny attended Concordia Schools while growing up.

On May 4, 1959 he married Rosalita Rottinghaus at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict, Kansas.  To this union 4 children were born, DeAnn, David, Douglas, and Dana.

He was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus Council #1142.

Kenny worked in the Construction Business where he was the General Contractor building homes and remodeling.

Kenny enjoyed grilling, golfing, baseball, telling jokes and just being onery with Rosie and all the girls.  Most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he was always excited to see.

He is survived by his four children, daughter, DeAnn Romberger (Richard), Abilene, KS; son, David Skeels (Nikki), Shawnee, KS; son, Douglas Skeels, Concordia, KS; daughter, Dana Santos (Marcus), Littleton, CO; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three, brother-in-laws, Roy Fakler, Elmer Rottinghaus (Nancy) and Regis Rottinghaus, three, sister-in-laws, Arlene Skeels, MaryAnn Dressman, Millie Heinen.

Kenny was preceded in death by his beloved wife Rosalita Skeels, parents, Kenneth and Lydia Skeels, brother, Kenton Skeels and a sister, Karen Fakler, brother-in-laws, Wilbert, Leonard, Albert, Justin and Galen Rottinghaus, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Fangman.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.  A Rosary Service will be prayed 6:00 p.m., on Friday evening at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  Family will greet friends after the Rosary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. David Metz officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Concordia Catholic Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.
