Larry Beck, age 72, died January 2, 2025, at the Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas. He was born to Don and Bertie Beck on September 27, 1952, around the Waldo, Kansas area. Larry grew up in Waldo and graduated from Waldo High School. After graduation Larry enlisted in the United States Navy, serving six years. He then joined the Army National Guard and worked at the Clay Center Armory for several years. He retired from the National Guard. Larry was working at Mellies Product in Morganville when he met Rebecca Mize. They married on September 3, 1997. They later divorced and remarried on November 8, 2018. Larry spent the remainder of his employment working in the maintenance department at Kansas State University where he retired. He enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, puzzles, reading and woodworking. He adored his grandson and would walk around picking up change he found to add to the savings account he opened for him. He is preceded in death by his parents.
