George Lyman Schurle, age 89 of Manhattan, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024, at Via Christi Village in Manhattan.
He was born on August 2, 1935, in Manhattan, the son of George and Fannie (Schwab) Schurle. He graduated from Keats High School.
He married Shirley Rose Russell on February 24, 1954. She preceded him in death in 2023.
Lyman owned and operated Schurle’s Water Conditioning. He was a member of the Sedalia Community Church. He was a season ticket holder for the KSU Women’s basketball team and coached and sponsored women’s softball teams.
He is survived by four sons, DeWayne Schurle and wife Julie of Manhattan, David Schurle of Riley, Darrell Schurle and wife Lisa of Manhattan, and Jamie Schurle of Colorado; one sister, Angela Murphy; three brothers, Robert Schurle and wife Lilia, Stan Schurle and wife Betty, Fred Schurle and wife Nancy; one sister-in-law, Judy Schurle; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Shirley, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Schurle; one grandson, Christopher Schurle, and one brother-in-law, David Murphy.
A Celebration of Life will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Sedalia Community Church Annex. Casual attire is recommended with K-State attire encouraged.
A private family inurnment will be in the Valley View Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Sedalia Community Church and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
