Marvin LeRoy Heck, 88, of Washington, died Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at his home.
Visitation will be Monday, April 17, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 18 at Ward Funeral Home in Washington.
Burial will be in the Linn City Cemetery.
Marvin was born September 25, 1934, on the family farm near Washington to Gilbert and Eleanor (Walters) Heck. He graduated from Morrowville High School and served in the U.S. Army.
On June 3, 1961, he was united in marriage to Ladonna Pfeiffer. To this union one son was born, Bryce.
Marvin was self-employed as a realtor and auctioneer and raised hogs and cattle. Later in life he worked various jobs, raised a garden, enjoyed history and loved playing with his great grandchildren. For several years he would be seen on his tractor cutting and baling hay on the highway right-a-ways. Marvin was a hard worker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ladonna; brothers, Jimmy Heck and Gilbert Heck, Jr.; and sisters, Eleanor Rogge and Wanda Miller.
Survivors include his son, Bryce (Brenda) Heck, Washington; brothers, Willis (Jan) Heck, Newton, KS, and Dennis Heck, Fremont, NE; sister-in-law, Rosie Heck; and granddaughters, Rachael (Bret) Harshbarger and Melissa Heck, both of Topeka; and great grandchildren, Cooper Harshbarger, Addison Harshbarger and Emma Harshbarger.
A memorial fund is established to the Washington County Library. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
