Obituary-Meredith (Wayne) Swenson

Meredith (Wayne) Swenson, 70, made his journey to heaven on March 2, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Wayne was an active member in his church, an avid fisherman and hunter, bicyclist, bird watcher, and a dedicated family man.  He especially loved nature, wildlife, and fishing with his grandsons.  His love for Jesus and his family touched everything he did.

Wayne was born to parents, Earl and Margaret (Ostberg) Swenson, in Assaria, Kansas on January 30, 1953.  He loved growing up on a farm with his brothers and sister.  He discovered a talent for sales early on because of his interest in and love for people.

He met the love of his life, Sheryl Kraisinger, while they were both working in sales.  They married on September 28, 1973.  His career in institutional food sales took them to Salina, then Concordia, Kansas 20 years ago.  Wayne and family enjoyed their cabin at Lovewell Lake for many years.

He and Sheryl raised two daughters and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with their five grandsons.  They loved to travel and visit national parks.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Conrad.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl, daughters, Amanda (Nolan) Crosson, Concordia, and Alaina (Curtis) Flaming, Kansas City, Missouri, and grandsons (Austin, Andrew, and Bennett Crosson, and Luca and Greyson Flaming).  Also, brother, Kerwin (Nancy) Swenson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, sister, Melanie Reed, of Lake City, South Carolina and sister in law, Diana Swenson, Johnson, KS.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at The Wesleyan Church, Concordia with Pastor’s David Redmond and Bob Burns officiating.  Private family inurnment will be held at a later time.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 1-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 6:00-7:30 pm, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
