On August 17, 2024, Mickayla Rae Standlea, passed away at the age of 25, in Clay Center, Kansas. She was born on June 5, 1999, in Manhattan, Kansas. Mickayla is the daughter of Britton and Eva (Gaudreault) Standlea. The youngest of three children.
Mickayla graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 2017 and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Emporia State University in 2022. She worked at Court Street Veterinary Care throughout high school and had a great love for animals. She had a strong bond with her two cats, Icarus and Persephone, as well as her ball python. Mickayla began baking and making cakes after graduating from Emporia. She began working at Radina’s Bakery in Manhattan, where she continued to learn, and grow her skills and love of baking. She had such a creative soul. She had a love for music, reading, writing, drawing and playing games with great friends and family. Mickayla was one who had a bright light and would help those in need. She brought smiles to so many. She was loyal to her friends and family and put great thought into everything she did.
Mickayla was in a loving relationship with Trevor Cole and is also survived by her parents; sister, Brianna Standlea and Lucas Hooks; brother, Evan Standlea and Isaac Garcia; grandparents, Alcide and Rhonda Gaudreault; and many wonderful friends and family. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Alvin and Mary Standlea.
Visitation will take place at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 4-7 PM, with Rosary to follow at 7:00.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Mickayla was a bright light and would not want sadness but would prefer to celebrate in brightness. The family requests that bright colors of the rainbow be worn, to celebrate her life. She loved to live life.
