Odella Brannan, 88, of Clay Center, Kansas died on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor. She was born on February 6, 1937 in Clay County, the daughter of Delmar and Irene (Ahlquist) Bertrand.
Odella grew up in Clay County, attending schools in Clay Center. After high school, she worked at the Rex Theater for a short time. She married Jack Brannan on January 17, 1959 and the couple lived on the family farm until moving into Clay Center. Jack preceded her in death on December 1, 1991. Odella was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, past member of the Clay Center Elks and she volunteered at the St. Paul Lutheran Preschool. She is also preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Douglas Wilder.
She is survived by her daughters, Lori and husband, Jim Carlson of Clay Center, Kansas, Laraine and husband, Timothy Gengler of Lindsborg, Kansas and Shelly Keller of Clay Center, Kansas; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Bill and wife, Ila Bertrand of Aledo, Illinois and sisters, Ann Lovendahl of Morganville, Kansas and Delrene and husband, David Wilder of Clay Center, Kansas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 10:30AM at the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center, Kansas.
Interment will be in the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 4-6PM, with the Rosary recited at 6PM, at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor or the Utility Park Zoo and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
