Randy Lee Thorman, 74, Greenleaf, died Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington.
A graveside funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Greenleaf with Father David Metz officiating. Music selections are “Jealous of the Angels” and “Something You Get Through.”
Honorary pallbearers are Dave Anderson, John Diederich, Joe Hiltgen, John McGrath, Bob Fletcher and Duane Anderson.
On October 17, 1950, Randy was born to Richard and Betty (Werner) Thorman in Washington. He graduated from Washington High School and after high school worked as a welder for Hutchinson Mayrath Manufacturing in Clay Center and Landoll’s Corp in Marysville. He drove over the road for a trucking company and for the Gothenberg, NE Co-op. He retired from the UP Railroad after working for them for 20 years.
Hunting and fishing were his favorite pastimes, besides spending time with family and friends.
On May 31, 1974, he was united in marriage to Joann Diederich at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kimeo. This union was blessed with two daughters, Susan and Dusty.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Rick Thorman and Rusty Thorman; and sister, Becky Thorman.
Survivors include his wife, Joann; daughters, Dusty (Chad) Warren, Greenleaf, Susan (Todd Pollock) Barker, Grove City, MN; and grandchildren, Mykal Barker, Haley Barker, Isaac Kearn, Matthew Kearn, Ari Rozean and Avery Rozean.
A memorial fund is established in his name and will be designated by the family later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home in Washington, KS.
