Obituary-Richard “Dick” Taylor

Richard Leroy Taylor “Dick”, 84, of Miltonvale gained his heavenly wings on August 30, 2022, at his daughter’s home in Minneapolis, KS after a short bout with cancer.

Dick was born June 7, 1938, in Oak Hill to George Washington Taylor and Myrtle Sophie (Lindquist) Taylor, the third of four boys. He worked for Skinners Chevrolet then later for the Mobil Station, mostly delivering fuel to farmers via the tank wagon. He appreciated farming and raising cattle on the land that two previous generations farmed. Dick was an exceptional mechanic and could fix almost anything. He enjoyed restoring old ford tractors, volunteering with the fire department (in his younger years) and was great pool player.

He married Elaine LaVoie August 16, 1959. Two children were born to this union, Pamela Ann (Taylor) Harder and Kevan Todd Taylor. They later divorced. He married Elsie Malik May 26, 1976, and together they had one son Richard Leroy Taylor Jr “Richie”.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Chester, Warren, and Larry Taylor, and his wife Elsie. He is survived by his three children, Pam (Kent) Harder of Minneapolis, Kevan Taylor of Colby, and Richie Taylor of Oak Hill, grandchildren Tiffany (Brett) Speaks of Prairie Village, Brandon Harder of Minneapolis, and Torey (Tera) Taylor of Shawnee, great-grandchildren Ryan Harder, Bradley Speaks and Kate Speaks.

Services will be held at Phelps Funeral Home, Miltonvale, KS on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 10:00 AM.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Phelps Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to the Miltonvale Fire Department c/o the funeral home.
