Obituary-Richard Doyle

Richard Lee Doyle, age 81, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.  He was born on December 24, 1940 in Hays, Kansas to Ernest and Zella (McKim) Doyle.

He was a 1958 graduate of Belle Plaine High School, Belle Plaine, Kansas.

On August 12, 1962 He married Martha “Marty” Broyles in Webber, Kansas.  She preceded him in death on December 23, 2016.

Richard received his Bachelor’s degree in music from Kansas State University. While at KSU, Rich and Marty participated in the Kansas State Marching Band, where they met.  He went on to receive his Master’s degree in Mathematics, also from Kansas State University.

Rich served many years working as a fireman for the Railroad and then in the MAD department at Cesna. Upon relocating to Concordia, he owned and operated his own woodworking shop, where he enjoyed making many unique crafts.  He was a true craftsman and took great pride in his work.  He and Marty attended many arts and craft fairs where they would display and sell their crafts. Rich also worked for Cloud County Community College for many years where he retired in 2006.

His hobbies include woodworking, antiquing with his son, Jeff, sitting at the beach house with his daughter, Deb, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and attending CCCC Volleyball, Women’s Basketball, and Softball games.  He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.  He truly touched so many lives.

Survivors include his daughter, Debra Willis (Larry, deceased), Savannah, GA.;  grandchildren, Amber Doyle (Joey Irsik), Topeka, KS.; Stephanie Downie (Derrick), Concordia, KS; Heather Hadenfeldt (Jamie), Cairo, NE.; Seth Nonamaker, Beatrice, NE.; Sean Nonamaker (Natalie), Yamhill, OR.; Michelle Bombardier (Bryan), Concordia, KS; Maria Morris (Troy), Lexington, NC, Craig Willis (Jennifer), Las Vegas, NV.; Shane Willis (Gelene), St. George, UT; great grandchildren Lincoln and Clayton; brothers Larry Doyle (Linda), OK, Pat Melia, OK.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marty, son, Jeffrey Doyle, parents, Ernest and Zella, daughter-in-law, Janette Doyle, son-in-law, Larry Willis, and brother, Bob Doyle.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2022 with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. all at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Concordia with Rev. Kibum Kim officiating.

Cremation will take place following the funeral service and a private family inurnment will be held at a later time.
