Obituary-Sister Christina Brodie

Sister Christina Brodie died July 25, 2024, at Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia, KS.  She was 72 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 9 years.  She was born in New York City, NY on August 28, 1951 to William and Antoinette Tummolo Oakley, the first of four children, and was baptized Christina.  She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, Kansas on November 1, 2012. She entered the novitiate on June 13, 2015. She pronounced first vows on June 11, 2016 and final vows on August 2, 2019.

Sister Christina received a BA degree in history and communications from Livingston College.  Christina had a 40 year career in marketing/advertising and media primarily in New York City but also in South Florida.  She started the Hands Across the Community ministry in Concordia helping several families throughout the years. 

Sister Christina was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. She is survived by one sister, Diana Levett; and one brother, Bill Oakley and one son, Chris Brodie.  A Bible Vigil Service will be held July 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Nazareth Motherhouse Chapel with Sister Marcia Allen as the eulogist.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be July 30 at 10:30 a.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel with Father Barry Brinkman presiding.  The burial will be in the Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery.  Chaput-Buoy Mortuary, 325 W. 6th St., Concordia, KS is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials for Sister Christina Brodie may be given to the Sisters of St. Joseph to benefit the Helping Hands Outreach at Manna House.
