Steven E. Hirt, age 68, of Waterville, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids.

Steve was born May 23, 1954, at Clay Center, to Gail E. and Mary “Margaret” (Jones) Hirt.  He graduated from Valley Heights High School in 1972, and from Kansas State University in 1976 with a degree in Agricultural Economics.  Steve farmed alongside his father Gail, retiring just a few years ago.

Steve served on the board of the COOP in Waterville for many years. He also sold Pioneer Seed for over forty years.  At one time he had his pilot’s license and loved flying.  He enjoyed collecting belt buckles, toy tractors, knives and model airplanes.  Steve also loved his animals.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Carolyn Sanner.  Survivors include a niece Frances and nephew Tom, a brother in law Stan Sanner and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Waterville.

Burial is at Riverside Cemetery in Waterville.
