Obituary-Teresa M. Grennan

Teresa M. Grennan, age 93, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, Kansas.  She was born on December 26, 1928 in Kingman, Kansas to Martin and Maude (Andersen) McEvoy. Teresa was a 1947 graduate of Kingman High School.  In 1953 she then went on to receive her master’s degree in Music and English from Marymount College in Salina, Kansas.

On June 4, 1955 she married Lawrence Michael (Mike) Grennan at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kingman, Kansas.  To this union six children were born, Michael, Martin, Paul, Mary Beth, Daniel and Chris.   Mike preceded her in death on February 20, 1987.

Teresa taught school in several communities Jamestown, Hunter, Simpson and Beloit.  After her teaching career she received her certification as a social worker from the State of Kansas.  She then was a Social Worker with Cloud County SRS.  Teresa also was an activity director at the Cheyenne Lodge in Jamestown for 18 years.  At age 58, Teresa received her LPN degree from the NCKAVTS Beloit Campus Nursing Program.  She was employed by the Sister’s of St. Joseph at the Nazareth Motherhouse as a Nurse for 15 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, serving on the Altar Society, was Choir Director early on, served on the Pride Committee and City Council all of Jamestown.

Her hobbies included writing poetry, singing, was an avid gardener, and once grew a magnificent magnolia tree.

She is survived by her son, Michael Grennan, Beloit, KS; son, Paul Grennan, Jamestown, KS; daughter, Mary Beth Smith (Randy), Jamestown, KS;  son, Daniel Grennan, Weir, KS; son, Chris Grennan, Overland Park, KS; seven grandchildren, Jenny, Audrey, Madeline, Ethan, Alexander, Caitlyn, and Daniel, Jr.;  seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Ann Kimmel, Ellinwood, KS; a sister-in-law, Polly Champlin, Meade, CO; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mike, parents, Martin and Maude, a son, Martin Grennan.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m, Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.

Rosary service will be held Tuesday, 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, evening at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends after the Rosary Service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, Kansas with Fr. David Metz officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Jamestown, Kansas.
