Obituary–Terry L. Baxa

Terence “Terry” L. Baxa was born on November 25th, 1949, in Belleville, to William and Arlene (Houdek) Baxa, and passed away on March 27, 2022, at his home in Belleville, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 2 days.
Terry graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1967, and then attended Kansas State University.
He was united in marriage to Joleen K. Havel on November 6, 1975, in Las Vegas.
Terry, along with Guy Chizek, Ed Glenn and Don Stoltzenberg started a country western band, called “The Salt Creek Playboys” and played all over the mid west, and especially their hometown communities.
Terry was an avid collector of Browning Firearms, and was the Browning Collectors Association President for many years. He also enjoyed collecting antiques, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Joleen.
Terry is survived by his brother Barry Baxa and wife Rita of Cuba, sister-in-law Peggy Humpert and her husband Lyle of Haysville, Kansas, close friend Josh Melton and his wife Lonisa of Belleville, his schnauzer Lilly Jo, and many, many friends.
Memorial Services to be held on Friday, April 8th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at the Cuba Presbyterian Church with Pastor Phil Goombi officiating. Visitation with family greeting friends will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Following the services, family and friends are invited to a reception with the family, in the church basement.
Memorials are requested to the Cuba Presbyterian Church or the Browning Collectors Association, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
