Timothy A. “Tim” Mayo, 69 of Clay Center, Kansas, died on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at his residence. He was born on July 24, 1955 in Broken Bow, Nebraska, the son of Frank and Dorothy (Reed) Mayo.
Tim grew up in Broken Bow, Nebraska and graduated from Broken Bow High School. He moved to Blair, Nebraska in 1973 and attended Dana College before transferring to the University of Nebraska at Omaha and majored in accounting. He married Kimberley Boller on August 13, 1978 and the couple lived in Blair, Nebraska. They moved to Clay Center, Kansas in 1985 where Tim managed Thriftway. He then worked for Boogart’s grocery store for several years and then for Wardcraft Homes for over 25 years before his retirement.
Tim was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clay Center where he was a deacon and the current treasurer. He was an avid bowler and coached junior league bowling for many years. Tim was also an avid golfer and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marilyn Luttenegger.
Tim is survived by his wife, Kim Mayo of Clay Center, Kansas; daughter, Melody and husband, Ben Easterberg of Clay Center, Kansas; two grandchildren, Jaxon Vathauer and Alana Easterberg; three brothers, Jerry and his wife, Cindy Mayo of Clay Center, Kansas, Jeff and his wife, Diana Mayo of Clay Center, Kansas and Jon and his wife, Holly Mayo of Omaha, Nebraska and his sister, Allison and her husband, Tom Danilovich of Creston, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, March 7, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Clay Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church or to the PKD Foundation and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
