Obituary-Trace Alan

Trace Alan, 24 of Marysville, KS passed away November 1, 2023. He was born April 22, 1999 in Clay Center to Bill Buttman and Kristin Oestreich.

Trace grew up in Clifton, attending Clifton-Clyde schools. He lived in Concordia after school and in 2020 moved to Marysville where he worked as a laser operator at Landolls. In the meantime he worked on obtaining his GED and then certification in cyber-security. 

Trace would return to his family home often to play basketball in the driveway with his brother and sister or treat them with trips to Wal-Mart, McDonalds, or the movies.

Hobbies included cheering on all Cleveland Pro teams including the Browns, Cavaliers and Indians and KU Jayhawk basketball and football. He also enjoyed PC gaming and playing online with his brother. Trace grew his hair out to cut and donate to locks of love and was working on growing it out a 2nd  time for the same purpose.

Trace loved animals, especially dogs and snakes. He had 2 cats and 2 dogs and pet snakes in the past. When in high school, he adopted a stray redbone coonhound which he named Rocket and bonded with right away.

Trace’s memory will be cherished by his mother Kristin Oestreich, step-father Ryan Oestreich, brother Ayden Oestreich, sister Joely Oestreich, grandmother Eleanor Kieffer, step-grandfather Ron Oestreich, aunts: Kimberley Kieffer, Marla Oestreich, Erin Oestreich, Traci Oestreich; uncles Patrick Buttman, Mike Buttman, Bobby Buttman, Phillip Buttman and Troy Surprise.

He is preceded in death by his father William “Bill” David Buttman, Jr., Paternal grandparents William David and Margy Buttman, Maternal Grandfather Douglas Kieffer.

A prayer service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 10:30AM at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.

Visitation will held from 5-7PM on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.

Inurnment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Clyde, Kansas.
