Victoria (Vikki) Jane Whitead was born August 10, 1952, in Red Cloud, Nebraska to Loren and Avis (Schoonover) Hoskins. She was married to Kenneth L. Lager on September 6, 1969. To this union six children were born. She married Dwight J. Whitead on February 25, 2001, in Woodland Park, Colorado and added to her family two stepchildren.
Vikki’s restless nature inspired her to call several states home. From Nebraska, Oregon, Florida, and Colorado, to her last stop in Kansas. Vikki worked in Newspaper advertising sales and church ministry. Vikki enjoyed her work as a ministerial Coordinator, where she was a member at the Fellowship Christian Church in Concordia. She was co-president of Christian Women’s Outreach and served as a volunteer and board member of CASA.
Vikki enjoyed her family, working in the church, women’s ministry, her ladies Bible study group, LAFF (life after fifty-five) group, and her little dog Ruby. She also enjoyed her visits with her siblings and nieces and nephews. Vikki was generous of spirit. She desired to see the best in people and welcomed people of all makes and models. She enjoyed deep conversations and was a good listener.
Vikki passed away after a brief battle with ovarian cancer at the age of 73 years old on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Ottawa County Health Center in Minneapolis, Ks.
Victoria will be deeply missed by her husband Dwight J. Whitead; her children from her first marriage to Kenneth Lager, Karri, Sonya, Mandy, Wendy, Quentin, and Danielle; sons-in-law, Bill, Richard, Scott, Todd, and Andy; step-children, Zachary and Ashley, daughter-in-law Cynde, grandchildren, Airell, Austin, Dakota, Levi, Max, Carson, Emily, Brianna, Sawyer, Sylvanna, Jordan, Emalee, Isabella, Tyler, Breanna, Lydia, Titus, Drew, Oliver, Penelope, Emma, and Abigail; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, sister, MaryEllen and brother Don, and many nieces and nephews.
Vikki was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Avis Hoskins, brothers Ted and Dick, sisters Barbara and Carol.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am, Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Fellowship Christian Church in Concordia with Dr. Kirk Mallette officiating.
Visitation and book signing will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas, with family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m.
