Obituary-Sue Zeller

Sue Ann (Atkinson) Zeller, 61, passed away November 18, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene.

Sue was born August 8, 1962 to Allen “Lee” and Joan (Reiff) Atkinson in Abilene, KS. She was the youngest of five children. Sue graduated from Abilene High School in 1980. She was married to John Zeller on September 23, 1989 and they were blessed with two daughters: August and Alexa. They raised their family in Clay Center, KS.

Sue’s work history included working in payroll at Hutchinson-Mayrath (17 years), C&R Credit Union, and Scott Specialties, all in Clay Center. She then moved back to Abilene and worked at West’s Country Mart until her retirement. Sue was an avid reader and loved to sew and make quilts for her family. 

Sue is survived by John Zeller of Morganville, daughter August Zeller (Michael Clark) of Clay Center, daughter Alexa Zeller (Joel Shuler) of Salina, her mother Joan Atkinson of Chapman, brother Rod Atkinson (Connie) of Abilene, brother Mark Atkinson of Panama, brother in law Bill Gillespie of Abilene, her eight grandchildren: Paxton, Aeryn, Anders, Macy, Adrian, Etta, Ada, and Miles as well as many family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Lee Atkinson, brother C.J. Atkinson, and sister Cindy Gillespie. 

A memorial service will be held Friday December 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home with Mr. Kelly Cooper officiating. The family has selected cremation and a private family burial will take place at a later date.
