Delegates from the Big First Congressional District, representing 60 Kansas counties, convened in Hays on Saturday to elect new officers who will guide the district for the next two years. The newly elected leadership team, known as the Bison State Slate, includes:

  • Chris McGowne (Ellis County) – Chair
  • Julie Roller Weeks (Dickinson County) – Vice Chair
  • Anthony Newell (Saline County) – Treasurer
  • Garrett Henson (Jefferson County) – Secretary

Looking ahead, the new leadership team is focused on achieving 80-20 margins in the Big First while fostering a strong, united, and action-oriented Republican base.

This team succeeds the outgoing officers:

  • Laura Francis (Ford County) – Chair
  • Craig Bowser (Jackson County) – Vice Chair
  • Jim DuBois (Saline County) – Treasurer
  • Bev Caley (Clay County) – Secretary

In addition to officer elections, delegates also selected 39 delegates and alternates, to attend the Kansas Republican Party State Convention. The date and location of the convention have not been announced.

The Convention also featured remarks from Congressman Tracey Mann, who encouraged grassroots involvement and unity. Kansas Senators and Representatives from across the district also addressed the delegates, sharing insights on current initiatives and future priorities.
