The results of the Fall 2023 “Kansas Speaks” survey from Fort Hays State University have been published, and they paint a picture of increasingly progressive ideas taking hold across the state.
Nearly 70% of Kansas support Medicaid expansion, and the same number support the legalization of marijuana.
In terms of abortion issues, 60% of participants felt that women were better analysts of bodily autonomy as opposed to state lawmakers. 55% of responses said that Kansas should not impose a ban on traveling outside the state to seek an abortion.
The survey also asked participants views on housing issues. More than 71% of Kansans are concerned about the price of housing in their community, 55% of Kansans own their home, and 36% pay rent.
