Fort Riley Under a Water Boil Advisory

By Ryan Duey

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a boil water advisory for portions of Fort Riley. Residents in these areas are asked to boil water for drinking and cooking as well as continue to conserve water until further notice.

The water main that provides water to Historic Main Post, Marshall Army Airfield, Camp Funston, and Camp Whitside was damaged at 8:00 p.m., April 28. All other areas of Fort Riley are not covered by this boil water notice. This impacts about 5,900 people living or working in those areas.

Crews have isolated the broken water main, and water was rerouted to restore water to Historic Main Post, Marshall Army Airfield, Camp Whitside, and Camp Funston.

Bottled water is being provided for residents at the Corvias Leasing Office. The Long Fitness Center will be open today from 3 to 10 p.m. for Families living in affected neighborhoods to use for showering. Please bring your own towels.

Water drop points are set up for other uses, such as cleaning and flushing. Water point locations:

• Cavalry Parade Field Parking Lot

• Historic Main Post Neighborhood Center; Pershing Ct; Pershing Ave

• MAAF Housing Area

• Soldier Recovery Unit

• Whitside Warrior Restaurant

• Ogden Gate

• 12th Street Gate
