Geary County Fish & Game
Geary County Fish & Game Association has been doing its real Christmas tree recycling project for many years in the Junction City area. Natural Christmas trees are a good option for the Holiday as they are bio-degradable, unlike the plastic or metal trees that many people use. Even though real evergreens are just used one time, when they are recycled for wildlife habitat or used for fish structures in water, they will return to the earth very quickly. An artificial tree may be used for many years but will eventually go to a landfill and be there for a thousand years or so before degrading.
Faith Lutheran Church in Junction City has made space available for accumulation of the trees again this year. Fish & Game said that no date has been set yet for hauling.
PLEASE PLACE YOUR NATURAL EVERGREEN CHRISTMAS TREE (WITHOUT DECORATIONS) ON THE CHURCH PROPERTY AT EISENHOWER AND MCFARLAND STREETS BY THE TREE DEPOSIT LOCATION SIGN NOT LATER THAN 20 JANUARY.
