Salina Animal Shelter Puts Dogs Under Quarantine

The Salina Animal Shelter has announced that due to a recent Giardia outbreak, they have initiated a quarantine for all dogs at the shelter as a precautionary measure. They are currently consulting with a local veterinarian to manage the situation and ensure proper care.

Giardia is a microscopic parasite that can infect dogs’ intestines. It can cause diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss, dehydration, reduced appetite, and abdominal pain. Dogs can get infected by ingesting feces-contaminated water, soil, food, or objects.

For any questions, reach out to the shelter directly.
