The administrative offices for Riley County Emergency Management and Riley County Fire District #1 will be temporarily closed the week of June 2 – 6, 2025, as staff prepare to relocate to a new temporary office space.

Starting Monday, June 9, both offices will reopen to the public at 2030 Tecumseh Road, in the building that also houses the Riley County Health Department. The space was formerly used by Konza Prairie Community Health.

This relocation is part of a phased renovation project to install new windows and make improvements to the Courthouse Plaza East county office facility, located at 115 N. 4th Street. Riley County Emergency Management and Fire District #1 will be the first departments to move out, allowing their space to be used by other departments as renovations continue.

Plans are underway to renovate the old Emergency Medical Services Station #1 to serve as a new permanent facility for Emergency Management and Fire District #1, with a tentative completion date in 2026. Until then, EM and RCFD#1 staff will work from the Tecumseh Road location, which will remain open and accessible to the public.

Emergency response operations will not be affected by the closure. However, general administrative calls and walk-in services will be unavailable during the week of June 2 – 6 while staff complete the move.

“We’re excited about the future improvements, and we appreciate everyone’s patience while we transition into our temporary space,” said Emergency Management Director Russel Stukey. “Our commitment to public safety remains the same, and we’ll continue to serve the community without interruption.”
