MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State head football equipment manager Al Cerbe received the highest honor from the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) by being awarded the Glenn Sharp Award at their annual convention in Atlanta, Georgia. This award recognizes the Equipment Manager of the Year, emphasizing service, leadership, and excellence in athletic equipment management.
Cerbe is entering his 19th season at Kansas State and 15th as head football equipment manager, overseeing all aspects of equipment and apparel distribution and maintenance. He also manages K-State’s student equipment managers. Accredited by AEMA in 2011, Cerbe chairs the organization’s education committee.
Cerbe started as a student equipment manager at the University of Memphis, later working with the Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Gladiators, and Memphis Xplorers. He began his career in 2004 at Northeast Mississippi Community College and graduated from Kansas State in 2010.
