Chiefs Adjust to Marquise Brown’s Absence as Young WRs Step Up

By Jayson Henderson

The Kansas City Chiefs are feeling the impact of losing wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, who dislocated his shoulder during last week’s preseason opener. Brown, the team’s most experienced receiver, is expected back early in the season but may miss the September 5 opener against the Baltimore Ravens.

Patrick Mahomes acknowledged the challenge, noting the loss of veteran presence in the receiver room. However, he emphasized the need to push young receivers like first-round pick Xavier Worthy to step up. Mahomes has been working closely with Worthy in practice, aiming to get him ready for the season.

Mahomes also hinted at possibly attempting a behind-the-back pass in a game, something coach Andy Reid has encouraged him to try. The Chiefs wrapped up training camp at Missouri Western State University without offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor, who is nursing a shoulder injury but is expected to be fine.
