Chiefs’ Andy Reid Reflects on Preseason Loss and Player Injuries

By Jayson Henderson

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid discussed the team’s 26-13 preseason loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, providing updates on key player injuries. Reid confirmed that wide receiver Marquise Brown suffered a sternoclavicular dislocation and was taken to the hospital. “He’ll miss some time,” Reid said, drawing a parallel to a similar injury Tyreek Hill had in 2019. Offensive lineman McKade Mettauer also injured his left knee and will be evaluated in the coming days.

Reid addressed areas needing improvement, particularly special teams. “We’ll clean up the special teams and what took place there,” he said. Despite the loss, Reid noted positive performances, singling out Todd Hicks and Carson Steele. “They jumped out a little bit,” Reid observed, expressing optimism about their development. Reid emphasized the importance of using the game as a learning experience, stating, “That’s what it’s for… it’ll be a good tape for me.”
