The Kansas City Chiefs recognized SSG Omar Sotelo as the “Tribute to the Troops” honoree during their regular-season opener at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Sotelo, stationed at nearby Fort Riley, has served in the Army since 2020 as a combat engineer.
Initially joining the Marine Corps in 2015, Sotelo transitioned to the Army to take on a more combat-focused role, specializing in explosive demolition. His dedication and leadership earned him this month’s recognition.
Humbled by the honor, Sotelo focused on those who supported him, bringing his wife and two soldiers to share in the moment. The Chiefs continue to celebrate the service of men and women like Sotelo through their long-standing “Tribute to the Troops” program.
