The Kansas City Chiefs are evaluating their future home after a vote to renovate Arrowhead Stadium failed in April. Team president Mark Donovan emphasized the importance of this decision, impacting the franchise for generations. The Chiefs are in talks with officials from Kansas and Missouri to find the best solution as their lease at Arrowhead expires in 2030.
Donovan mentioned the possibility of staying at a renovated Arrowhead or building a new stadium at the current site. Both options, including a dome or outdoor facility, are on the table. The Chiefs aim to make a decision that benefits their fans and the franchise long-term.
With no firm deadline, Donovan acknowledged that the team needs a clear direction within six months to meet the 2031 timeline for a new or renovated facility. The current Arrowhead Stadium, opened in 1972, remains an iconic option.
