Kansas City, MO — Kansas City Chiefs safety Justin Reid has won the annual Chess.com “Blitz Champs” tournament, marking the second consecutive year that a Chiefs player has claimed the title. Linebacker Drue Tranquill won the tournament last year.
Reid defeated Tennessee Titans cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Mack Hollins, and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray en route to his championship victory.
“I’m a competitive guy, but it’s not always about winning,” Reid told Chess.com. “This is awesome, but I just love getting better, so I’ll continue to challenge myself.”
Reid’s victory earned $30,000 for his foundation, “JReid InDeed,” which supports disadvantaged youth and communities through interactive programs, community engagement, and technology access.
