KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs signed rookie defensive tackle Alex Gubner on Thursday after a successful tryout at Mandatory Minicamp. Gubner, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 294 pounds, earned Big Sky “Defensive MVP” honors last season at the University of Montana, recording 45 tackles, 9.5 tackles-for-loss, and three sacks. He played a key role in Montana’s defense, which allowed just 108.5 rushing yards per game, ranking third in the FCS. Montana also had the FCS’s No. 3 third-down defense, with teams converting just 29 percent of the time.
In a corresponding move, the Chiefs waived rookie punter Ryan Rehkow.
