Chiefs Sign WR Jaaron Hayek After Rookie Minicamp Tryout

By Jayson Henderson

Kansas City Chiefs signed wide receiver Jaaron Hayek on Tuesday after a successful tryout at rookie minicamp last weekend. Hayek was one of 38 rookies at the three-day camp on a tryout basis, standing out with multiple catches across the field. His performance earned him a contract, leading to the release of rookie wide receiver Reggie Brown. Hayek, standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 200 pounds, played five seasons for Villanova, totaling 170 catches, 2,744 yards, and 29 touchdowns in 48 games. With a contract secured, he’ll join the Chiefs for “Organized Team Activities” starting May 20. In roster adjustments, the Chiefs waived Shi Smith, Jordan Smith, Jacob Copeland, Izaiah Gathings, and Tyree Gillespie, released Anthony Miller, and withdrew an “Exclusive Rights” tender on Cole Christiansen.
