Clay Center Varsity Tennis Places 4th in Smoky Valley Tournament

Clay Center Varsity finished 4th in the Smoky Valley Tournament. The schools ahead were Wichita Collegiate (last year’s 3A state runner-up), Hesston (last year’s 3A state 3rd place), and Smoky Valley (6th place in 3A state last year).

Cale Tromp went 3-1, securing 5th place in singles. Eli Pfizenmaier finished 11th with a 2-2 record. Brooks Craig and Anthony Davies placed 6th in doubles with a 2-2 record. Taige Pfizenmaier and JT Alton took 2nd in doubles, defeating #1 seeded Wichita Collegiate in the semi-finals but lost in the finals to Hesston, whose team included Deutschendorf from last year’s 3A doubles Championship team.

Clay Center’s doubles teams amassed 24 points, tying Smoky Valley for first in doubles points.
