Addressing various aspects of gameplay, the NFHS Basketball Rules Committee made 12 rule changes for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Among these alterations is the inclusion of a new definition and warning for players simulating fouls, commonly known as “flopping”. The committee aimed to maintain focus on player safety, fairness, and effective officiating. This change allows officials to issue a team warning for the first instance of flopping, recorded in the scorebook and reported to the head coach, with subsequent infractions resulting in a team technical foul. Additionally, adjustments to rules regarding jersey lettering, shot clock usage, and electronic device usage during games were made. The changes aim to streamline gameplay while upholding the integrity of high school basketball.
