The Kansas Jayhawks made school history Saturday night, defeating No. 7 BYU 17-13 in Provo. This victory, following their upset of No. 17 Iowa State the previous week, marks the first time Kansas has secured consecutive wins over ranked opponents.
Kansas opened the game with an 84-yard touchdown drive, capped by Devin Neal’s eight-yard rush. BYU responded with a field goal and a second-quarter touchdown, but the Jayhawks tied it 10-10 at halftime after a Mello Dotson interception halted BYU’s momentum.
The Jayhawks took the lead early in the fourth quarter on Neal’s second touchdown, set up by a heads-up special teams play. Kansas’ defense sealed the game, stopping BYU’s final drive at the 11-yard line.
Kansas will next face No. 18 Colorado at Arrowhead Stadium on Nov. 23.
