K-State Assistant Track Coach Wins Gold at Paris Olympics

By Jayson Henderson

Kansas State track and field assistant coach Tara Davis-Woodhall won a gold medal in the women’s long jump at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Davis-Woodhall achieved a leap of 7.10 meters (23 feet and 3.5 inches) to secure the top spot on the podium.

Davis-Woodhall’s victory is the latest achievement in her career, following a sixth-place finish at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, a gold medal at the 2024 World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, and a silver medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

Her win comes shortly after Travis Geopfert was hired as K-State’s director of track and field and cross country in July, and Davis-Woodhall was one of his first coaching hires. The success of Davis-Woodhall highlights the strong start to this new era for K-State track and field.

Davis-Woodhall’s husband, Paralympian sprinter Hunter Woodhall, has been publicly supportive of her accomplishments.
