K-State Defeats Longwood, 80-64, in Paradise Jam Third-Place Game

Senior Coleman Hawkins recorded his first double-double as a Wildcat, leading Kansas State to an 80-64 win over Longwood in the third-place game of the Paradise Jam on Monday. Hawkins finished with game-highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds, along with 5 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

The Wildcats shot a season-high 58.9% from the field and 55% from three-point range while holding a 36-24 rebounding advantage. Hawkins made 5 of the team’s 11 three-pointers and was named to the Paradise Jam All-Tournament Team.

K-State led 44-36 at halftime after a 22-11 run, capped by three three-pointers from Hawkins. The Wildcats maintained control in the second half, building the lead to as much as 21 points. Brendan Hausen added 16 points, Dug McDaniel had 11, and David N’Guessan contributed 10, marking his eighth consecutive game in double figures.

The Wildcats limited Longwood to 41.4% shooting and just 2 of 15 from three-point range. K-State’s defense forced the Lancers into 8 assists on 24 made field goals, while the Wildcats scored 40 points in the paint.
