K-State opened its ninth soccer season with a 2-1 loss to Nevada on Thursday night at Buser Family Park. Nevada struck first in the 15th minute with a goal from Olivia Loomis, assisted by Emily Rich. K-State outshot Nevada 12-5 in the first half but couldn’t capitalize on their chances.
Nevada extended their lead in the 49th minute when Rich set up Penny Murphy for a goal. K-State responded in the 79th minute with Jayce Woodward’s first collegiate goal, assisted by Porter List. Despite holding a 20-15 edge in shots, K-State couldn’t find the equalizer.
K-State is now 2-6-1 in season openers. Freshmen Caitlyn Toubia and Allison Marshall made their collegiate debuts. K-State will next face Portland State on August 22, with the match available on ESPN+.
