Kansas State University’s football team is headed to Phoenix to take on Rutgers in the Rate Bowl, scheduled for December 26 at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. This game marks the Wildcats’ 19th bowl appearance in Arizona and their fifth in this particular bowl under various names.
Under the leadership of head coach Chris Klieman, K-State finished the season with an 8-4 record, marking their fourth consecutive campaign with at least eight wins. The Wildcats recorded notable victories, including wins over ranked teams Arizona and Oklahoma State, as well as their 16th consecutive triumph in the Governor’s Cup against Kansas.
Rutgers, representing the Big Ten Conference, enters the game with a 7-5 record. The Scarlet Knights and Wildcats last met in the 2006 Texas Bowl, where Rutgers claimed victory.
