By Jayson Henderson

FORT RILEY, Kan.– The bond between the Kansas City Chiefs and the 1st Infantry Division grows stronger as soldiers from the “Big Red One” were invited to the Chiefs’ Training Camp in St. Joseph, MO, on August 17, 2023. The event, recognized as the organization’s Military Appreciation Day, saw five select non-commissioned officers from the division attending the training camp. They had the privilege to witness the Chiefs’ practice session and interact with players, including star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs annually host the training camp, with a special day dedicated to showing appreciation for local veterans and service members in the greater Kansas City area. The ongoing partnership between the 1st Infantry Division and the Chiefs highlights the shared commitment to honor the nation’s heroes and strengthen community ties.
