Kansas State’s Carla Bernat made significant strides in the MountainView Collegiate women’s golf tournament in Tucson, Arizona. Bernat’s 4-under par 68 during the second round propelled her 11 spots up the leaderboard to claim fourth place individually with a total score of 4-under par 140. The team, collectively, posted a 2-over par 290 in the second round, positioning them seventh overall with a 36-hole score of 3-over par 579. Head coach Stew Burke expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance but noted missed opportunities. He stressed the importance of self-belief for the final round. Freshman Julia Ballester Barrio improved significantly, carding a 2-under par 70, rising 16 spots to tie for 16th place. Senior Haley Vargas and senior Napua Glossner also demonstrated strong performances, securing tied 18th and tied 28th places, respectively. Texas A&M and South Florida are currently tied for the lead at 5-under par 571.
