Kelly Rankin, a Clay Center Community High School alum and member of the CCCHS Hall of Fame, has been selected for induction into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame. Rankin is noted for his contributions to sports, including serving as the head starter for two Olympic Games, a unique distinction for an American.
Rankin’s induction into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame recognizes his significant role in sports, joining other notable figures like former Wichita State basketball coach Mark Turgeon and NFL veteran Will Shields. The ceremony is scheduled for October 13, 2024, in Topeka. Rankin’s selection highlights his impact on both national and international sports, further solidifying his place in Kansas sports history.
