Lady Wildcat Senior Wins Augusta Amateur

Carla Bernat Escuder this past weekend brought home hardware from Augusta. The 21-year-old Spaniard; who is a senior at Kansas State University; claimed victory in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. The tournament took place with the Masters at Augusta set to tee off this Thursday. Bernat shot 4-under in all three rounds setting the tournament record with a three-day total of 12 under par. A 2-putt par on the final hole secured the victory. Bernat said she was “over the moon” and that “it felt amazing”. Bernat had her assistant coach Rinko Mitsunaga serve as her caddie in the tournament. And from the crowd she had her head coach Stew Burke along with Wildcat AD Gene Taylor and others cheering her on. Now Bernat and the Lady Cat golf team gets ready for the Big 12 Championship Tournament April 15-17.
